Hi, I'm Rebecca! I’m a writer, editor and design geek.
These days, I work as a UX writer and content strategist for the University of California, Davis.
I’m helping to redesign the content of our homesite.
I’ve also worked as a UX writer for Esurance.
I clarified insurance jargon.
It was a lot more exciting and fulfilling than you’d think.
I've done copywriting and content marketing for brands including Indiegogo, Adobe, Zendesk, and InVision.
I’ve been a (semi-successful!) full-time freelance writer for a total of 9 months.
I learned how to stay self-motivated and highly organized.
Who Am I?
I was the Managing Editor of Communication Arts magazine.
It’s an international publication covering graphic design, photography, and illustration, since 1959.
Editing the magazine was like a crash degree in design.
I worked as the Arts & Culture Editor at the Sacramento News & Review.
I wrote about — and ate — as much food as they let me.
I loved editing and training new writers.
I got my master's in digital journalism at Columbia University.
I worked as a freelance writer and teacher in Mexico City for almost a year.
I've had reporting stints at The Miami Herald, Napa Valley Register, and Mother Jones.
I tinker with copy until it's chiseled to perfection.
Whenever I'm not writing, I sew.
